Look in `SteamLinuxRuntime/VERSIONS.txt` to check which build you have.
These release notes apply to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` Steam Runtime in `~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime` (used to run Steam itself, most native Linux games, and Proton 5.0 or older), and also the SDK that is used to compile Steam and native Linux games.

For Steam, look in `~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/version.txt` to check which build you have. In a SDK chroot/container, check `/usr/lib/os-release`.

The history of the "Steam Linux Runtime" container is now [tracked separately](SteamLinuxRuntime-container-release-notes).

### Container runtime
* Use scout runtime from `~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime` instead of a separate version
* Use a Steam Runtime 2 'soldier' container plus the scout `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` runtime, for better compatibility with games that were tested on Ubuntu 18.04, Debian 10 and contemporary distributions
* Make Nvidia Vulkan ray-tracing more likely to work (make sure `/dev/nvidia-uvm` is created)
* A Steam restart is required to use this new version of the container runtime
