Open sourcing more aspects of the Steam Deck hardware
Not sure if this is a good place but I wanted to ask if Valve would be open to open sourcing some more aspects of the Steam Deck. More specifically, the firmware for the SAMD21 that is handling all the inputs. I think it would be really interesting to have access to that to either change what is exposed over HID but also to customize the behaviour. It would open up some huge possibilities of accessibility hacks. Given how highly modular the whole system is it would be fairly easy to design some after market input mods that plug into the two existing "input mainboards" and just modify the firmware to work with these modifications. Which brings me to the next topic of possibly open sourcing the hardware design files or at least a mechanical drawing and a schematic of at least the aspects that concern the user inputs. That whole subsystem seems to be quite self contained and only communicate to the mainboard via USB?
I hope you will consider this, releasing a reduced STEP file of the case was already a great first step to more accessible and user maintainable hardware!
